The unique habit of squirting viscous threads from its fangs and
fastening its prey to the strata, makes this spider worthy of
mention. There are three endemic species, S marmorata, S
striatipes and S penicillatus being introduced.
These spiders have only six eyes whereas most spiders have eight.
They are usually found in dry, sheltered places.
